As the summer winds down and the cooler weather begins to roll, we are sitting around trying to figure out the best way to prep for the upcoming brutal North Dakota winter. This should be fun.
We have heard from several different people about what they “expect,” but that doesn’t answer our question. What is the best way to prepare for a North Dakota winter? I think I already know the answer, but I also think I am running on borrowed time when it comes to getting this rig ready. Most are telling us that we should be prepared for -40 degree temps and lots and lots of snow. Now that’s what I’m talking about. THE WHITE STUFF!!!
We’re already seeing the colder weather coming in with a vengeance. If I’m not mistaken, we are expected to hit the mid 20s next week. BRRRRRRRRR… Glad I’ve gotten some long John’s. Either way, this should be a fun adventure. We’ve got our space heaters, our heat tape for our water and sewer lines, and insulation blankets to prevent freezing. So wish us luck.
While we’re on the subject of “luck”, those that were impacted by Helene need more than luck, they need your prayers and support. We are organizing a food drive to collect non perishables, toiletries, diapers, formula, and more. Whatever we can come up with, I’m sure they can find a good use for it.
So as we sit back and “wonder” if our winter will be intense, these neighbors to the east are “wondering” where they will be laying their heads this winter. Gives us a different perspective on our situations doesn’t it? So instead of sitting around concerning ourselves with the trivial nonsense we generally worry about, how about let’s thank God that we have a roof. That we have a place to sit and enjoy a meal. We have a closet to put our clothes in. Do you see where I’m going with this? Good. I figured you would. I’m pointing that finger at myself right now. I need to remind myself that I need to do the same things.
That being said I would like to give God a great big shoutout for backing me when no one else would and giving me the strength to carry on. My situations are not that serious. I’m grateful for all You do and will continue to do for me and my wife. Words can’t express the feelings. Be with those that are suffering and those that are preparing for another hurricane. God be with you all. In Jesus’ Name. AMEN.
